I offer an initial session for you to share what has brought you to counselling and to think about what you would like to gain from it. It is also an opportunity for me to ask for the information that I need to consider whether what I have to offer is likely to be helpful to you.
It is just as important that you feel comfortable with me, as it is that I feel able to work with you. Counselling is a collaborative process and the relationship between client and counsellor is a crucial part of this.
We will agree at this stage whether we want to proceed to work together. This can be on an ongoing basis or for an agreed number of sessions.
